Description Alvaro Tolosa Delgado 2024-04-18 15:15:15 CEST
Hi,

The problem of negative neutrino energies produced by beta decays is caused by a mismatch in the energy balance of the decays, because of the lack of consistency of atomic masses and decay Q values.

For the sake of consistency, Q values and masses should be taken from Atomic Mass Evaluation (AME). ENSDF Q values are taken from AME, and therefore they can be outdated and inconsistent with the most recent AME.

AME provides, in addition to masses and Q beta values: S(2n), S(2p), Q(a), Q(2B-), Q(ep), Q(B- n), S(n), S(p), Q(4B-), Q(d,a), Q(p,a), Q(n,a),

Best,
Alvaro

Hi Alvaro,

Bugzilla is not an appropriate place for this - it is not bug to be fixed. The problem is well known and should be addressed by updated of nuclear data on radioactive decay and isotope masses. Better place for this is git issue and/or JIRA requirement.

I would suggest to close Bugzilla and move the issue to one of two system.
