Description Florence.Ranjard 2001-04-02 11:22:26 CEST
In LHCb we try to play with the xrayTel example to learn how to make histograms
in Geant4.
In the README file of the example we find:
setenv OGLHOME /afs/cern.ch/sw/geant4/dev/Mesa/Linux-g++
we have no access to this directory
setenv LIZARDROOT /usr/local/freeLizard/3.2.0
this directory does not exist on Lxplus
in .../share/mgt/ g4analysis-setup.csh we have found
setenv LIZARDROOT "$LHCXX_REL_DIR/include/Interfaces -I$LHCXX_REL_DIR/include/AI
DA_HTL -I$LHCXX_REL_DIR"
we have guessed that LHCXX_REL_DIR could be
/afs/cern.ch/sw/lhcxx/specific/redhat61/3.2.0
we have got also Mesa from the same area.
with all these settings we could compile and execute : no warnings BUT we don't
get any histogram.
The README file says that histograming windows will
automatically open and the corresponding files will be created.
BUT no window is opened aaand no file is created.

Is anybody could help?

many thanks,
Florence Ranjard

Maria Grazia, could you forward this to the person who is responsible to
this extended example, please?

The problem should be reassigned to the example responsible, Ramon Nartallo
(ESA), but the PRS does not let me do so (it complains that Ramon's address is
not a valid one). Hopefully, the PRS experts will fix the re-direction.
As an additional piece of information, I may say that my own students in Genova
not only have run the example successfully, but, by copying its features into
their own applications, have been able to produce histograms with Lizard and
visualisation outputs in various formats.
Best regards,
Maria Grazia Pia

This advanced example uses functionality only currently available in Linux
