Created attachment 509 [details] Comparison of differential cross sections of photoelectrons The differential cross section (DCS) of photoelectrons for 8 keV X-rays calculated with the G4LivermorePolarizedPhotoElectricModel class (green) is different from those with the other three models: G4LivermorePhotoElectricModel (red), G4PenelopePhotoElectricModel (cyan), and G4LivermorePolarizedPhotoElectricGDModel (blue). The latter three models are in good agreement with the theoretical curve (black dashed line) written in the Heitler's textbook. Interestingly, the DCS ratio of G4LivermorePolarizedPhotoElectricModel to G4LivermorePhotoElectricModel is dcos(theta), where theta is the polar angle. Therefore, I suspect that dividing by the solid angle is not performed in the DCS calculation of G4LivermorePolarizedPhotoElectricModel (or G4PhotoElectricAngularGeneratorPolarized where the DCS calculation is actually coded).
Dear Takao Kitaguchi, Thank you very much for your detailed report. The authors have been contacted in order to investigate further. With best regards, S. Incerti
