cross section (graph)

Isotope production rates (Li, Be, B) vary between versions.
Energy of carbon ion is 3600MeV(300MeV/n) and the target is 1mm thickness water.
Projectile-like (Pz/A>600[MeV]) and relatively stable(track length > 1 [micro meter]) secondary particles are counted for cross section calculation.
Physics processes are G4IonBinaryyCascade, G4IonINCLXXPhysics and G4QMDReaction with Standard Evapolation Model.
Comparing 10.2.3 and 10.3.3, the cross section of Li and Be reduce to 60% and B increase 50%.

Production cross sections of projectile-like fragments is very important to simulate both physical and biological dose distributions for carbon-ion radiotherapy.
The cross sections significantly vary between versions.

Experimental data is
B 218 mb, Be 95 mb, Li 115 mb
(T. Toshito et al., Phys. Rev. C75 (2007) 054606)
In general, better coincidence with experimental data is shown for version 9 than version 10.

This problem report is marked as "enhancement", because there is no obvious bug fix, instead extra development is planned for 2019.

Hello,

would it be possible to repeat validation using Geant4 10.6patch01 when it will be out?

Vladimir

Dear Vladimir

We calculated cross sections with 10.6-p01, the numbers are
B 178 mb, Be 71 mb, Li 85 mb.
